DIABETIC FOOT CARE AND RISK ASSESSMENTS
Foot problems are very common in the general population - but these problems may lead to serious complications for those living with diabetes. A common long-term complication of diabetes is numbness or loss of sensation in the feet making it difficult for someone to notice when an injury is present. Unnoticed and untreated, even a small injury can become infected and lead to serious complications. Diabetes Canada recommends those living with diabetes to have their feet assessed by a doctor or foot specialist at least once a year for screening.
NAIL AND SKIN CONDITIONS
Nail and skin conditions affecting the feet are more common than you may think. Some of the more frequently seen cases include:

- Fungal infections of the skin and nails
- Viral plantar warts
- Bacterial infections of the skin and soft tissues
If you have any concerns regarding the health of your feet please book an appointment to see a chiropodist.
